Senior Animal Health Officer

Dr Junxia Song has a doctorate degree in veterinary medicine from China Agricultural University. Currently, she is a Senior Animal Health Officer working in the joint center for zoonotic disease and AMR in FAO HQ. She is FAO AMR coordinator, unit head, and FAO lead technical officer for AMR Quadripartite collaboration, leading the development and implementation of FAO action plan on AMR, coordinating AMR activities with internal and external partners. She is also coordinating the endemic zoonotic disease (rabies, brucellosis, zoonotic TB) in FAO HQ.
 
Dr. Song used to work in the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (MARA), P.R.China for more than 20 years. In early 2018, she joined FAO China office as the national team leader of the transboundary animal disease program. In September of 2018, she moved to FAO Asia and Pacific regional office in Bangkok as the Great Mekong Sub region (GMS) transboundary animal diseases coordinator. She joined FAO HQ in early 2020. Dr. Song has extensive experience in the prevention and control of zoonotic diseases, transboundary animal diseases, and AMR.
